There was once a boy, made of sadness
Or maybe made of shit, same thing
Nothing he did mattered
Cooking a delicious pasta with extra Parmesan
Winning a long game of poker with a royal flush
Finishing a mickey of vodka in half hour
Fucking a gorgeous blonde on the beach
Getting a law degree from Harvard
Curing cancer
None mattered
The boy was lost.
He was depressed
Was he even alive? He wondered as he lit a cigarette
He was surrounded by a sea of darkness
Darker than an black coffee in the morning
Darker than the ayatollah’s heart
Darker than a secluded island in the Atlantic at night
But then something changed.
He noticed a light far far away
It was real
He wasn’t dreaming
He wasn’t on shrooms
He wanted to go after it
But he had lost his shoes
He had lost his shoes
And his socks
And his sandals
But fuck it, he started running bare feet
Towards the light
And he ran
And he ran some more
Until he vanished in darkness
And no one saw him ever again
Maybe he reached the light
Maybe the boy became a man
Or maybe not
Only he knows
